MARGAO: In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting, South Goa District Collector along with other concerned officials on Monday inspected the venue at Kadamba Bus Stand in Fatorda regarding security arrangements.
Several BJP leaders, including Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, were present at the time of the inspection and claimed that the meeting would be attended by a huge crowd, but he also clarified that it was not a party meeting, but said that the Prime Minister would highlight the central schemes which would Profit has been made. The venue of the PM’s meeting has been fixed at KTC bus stand, where public bus services have also been shifted to different places.
Speaking to the media, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said that the venue will accommodate the huge crowd. “This meeting is basically to highlight the central schemes, in which the PM will brief the public on the issue. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will also address the gathering and emphasize on the schemes at the state level”, he informed.
As informed by the officials, there are some shops present at the KTC bus stand which will be closed for a few days due to security reasons.
Interestingly, the much-talked about KTC bus stand here will be given a facelift as work related to it has already started. The roads are being hot-mixed; The structure of the bus stand is being replaced and painted. A huge workforce was engaged in the repair work.
Reacting to this issue, many citizens have said that finally for the sake of PM, the neglected bus stand will get a new look. “The difficulties faced by the public and bus operators here have always been ignored by the government. The KTC bus stand was attracting attention for the last several years,” said Oswald D’Souza.
Another citizen Shivanand Naik also said that people would appreciate it if the government solves this issue of bus stand not just for the PM but permanently.
“During the rainy season, commuters face difficult times as water flows downwards from broken roof sheets.
This is the main bus stand of South Goa, so it is the responsibility of the government to provide better facilities to the public.”
