Goa News: Rumor of bomb in the city’s Customs Museum

Panaji: The National Customs and GST Museum in Panaji received a bomb threat email on Friday morning. The email sent to all email IDs of several museums across the country was received at 4.40 am. Museum officials immediately contacted Panaji police.

Panaji Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar said he received a call from the National Customs and GST Museum in Panaji around 9.45 am on Friday. They immediately contacted the bomb disposal squad who locked down the museum and conducted a thorough search of the entire premises of the museum. Fortunately, no suspicious objects were found during the inspection, which led to the reopening of the museum.

“We immediately contacted Panaji police station with a complaint, following which the bomb disposal squad was called and the museum was checked for suspicious items. This email was also sent to the IDs of museums across India,” revealed a museum official.

Details emerged that revealed that several museum facilities received similar threatening emails. Panaji Police has launched an investigation to trace the source of the fake email, with the aim of identifying and holding the sender responsible for the disruption of museum activities nationwide.
