Goa is ready for another fight with Covid: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji (IANS) | Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Friday that the state is ready to fight Covid once again. Learning from past experiences, stringent steps have been taken to ensure that all issues are addressed. The active Covid cases in the coastal state have gone up to 872, including 162 new cases reported on Thursday. Since March 19, the cases of Kovid are continuously increasing in the state.

Rane participated in a virtual meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday to review the current COVID situation on the ground and preparedness for the same.

Rane said, I spoke with Mansukh Mandaviya and told about the situation in Goa. Shared information about the testing figures and told them that Goa has the highest number of tests per 10 lakh population.

He further said, Goa is ready to fight the battle of Kovid again. We have taken strict measures in the light of past experiences, ensuring that every issue is addressed.

Rane said he has instructed the team at the Goa Medical College and Hospital to activate the genome sequencing machine on the campus.

We have also started patient testing in government hospitals using antigen tests to better understand the situation and keep things under control, he said.

The Health Minister said, if necessary, RTPCR test is done. Detection is done as per genome sequencing protocols and SOPs.

He said that if someone wants to get vaccinated as a booster dose or for the purpose of travel, emergency vaccination facility will also be provided for this.
