Bilaspur. Guru Ghasidas Central University located in Bilaspur has become an arena. Girls hostel students again staged a ruckus on the campus on Monday night. After which the student leaders of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad also reached the girls hostel. They were surrounded and beaten by the teaching staff and thrown out of the campus.
In fact, the district administration had organized a sweep voter awareness program in the university on Friday. The hostel warden stopped the girl students from going there. Angered by this, the students created a ruckus that day also. The matter calmed down after the resignation of the hostel warden and staff at around 5 in the morning.
University officials had called a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee on Monday evening to discuss the problems and demands of the girl students. During this time, some girl students were called from different hostels. It is alleged that the girl students were also threatened through the HOD. Despite this, the girl students enumerated their problems. But, this meeting remained inconclusive.
