Ranchi (IANS) | In Jharkhand’s Chatra district, the police has disclosed the case of rape and murder of a class 11 student of Kasturba Residential School. The youth accused of rape and murder has been arrested. According to the police, he has confessed to his crime. On June 14, a dead body of a girl student was recovered from Potam forest under Lavalong police station area of the district. Seeing the condition of the dead body, it was suspected that she was murdered after rape. This apprehension has been proved right after the arrest of the accused.
On the instructions of Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan, a police team was constituted under the leadership of Simaria SDPO Ashok Ravidas. The accused named Santosh Kumar, arrested by the team, is only 20 years old. He raped the student after finding her alone. After this, he strangled the girl student to death with her dupatta. He also crushed the girl’s face with a stone. The police have also recovered the clothes and slippers of the deceased girl student at her instance.
