Ghaziabad: A man has been arrested after a video of him gargling in the Golden Temple’s sacred pool went viral.

Punjab: Police said on Sunday that a 32-year-old man from Loni in Ghaziabad has been arrested after a video surfaced on social media showing him gargling and washing his mouth and feet in the sacred pool of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Police identified the accused as Subhan, a resident of Nasbandi Colony in the Ankur Vihar police station area. The viral video showed him committing this act in the sacred pool, which has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
According to the police, Subhan had gone to Amritsar on January 15 and visited the Golden Temple. After the video went viral, members of the Sikh community expressed strong resentment and filed a complaint in Amritsar, accusing him of deliberately hurting religious sentiments. Police said that upon receiving the information, the Ankur Vihar police arrested the accused on Saturday on charges related to disturbing public peace. Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gyan Prakash Rai said that Subhan was produced in court and later sent to jail.
