Gehlot government proved weak in getting Jaipur blast accused punished: CP Joshi

Jaipur (IANS)| Rajasthan BJP president CP Joshi on Thursday claimed that there was weak lobbying by the state government in the Jaipur serial bomb blasts case. Joshi’s comments came after the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday acquitted all four men sentenced to death in 2019 for the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts that killed 71 people and injured 185 others .

The court, while accepting the plea of one of the accused as a minor, also upheld the acquittal of the fifth accused. He said- The whole matter is under suspicion of gross negligence of the government. His acquittal shows the insensitivity of the government in this whole matter. 71 innocent people lost their lives while hundreds were injured in the bomb blasts. The government should strongly advocate in the Supreme Court and punish the accused and provide justice to the victims.

Looking at the activities of the state government in the last four years, it is clear that it is doing politics of appeasement on religious lines, be it the case of Kanhaiya Lal’s murder in Udaipur or the Karauli riots. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also has the Home Department, yet the common man of Rajasthan is yearning for justice. If the state government does not show seriousness even in punishing the accused of heinous crime like Jaipur blast, then what will happen to the rest of the cases?
