Gariaband village lacks roads and bridges, and shoulders are the only support for pregnant and sick women.

Gariaband. Heavy rains disrupted normal life in the district yesterday. Meanwhile, a video has emerged of a pregnant woman in labor being tied to a cot and carried across the swollen Amaad River in the Mainpur tehsil area.

We have reached the moon, but this village still hasn’t received an ambulance to transport patients. Due to the lack of a bridge, villagers have to cross the river to reach the national highway, where they can hire private vehicles.

On Dussehra, the family members first placed the pregnant woman on a cot and then tied her to the cot with a rope to prevent her from falling. Five to six people then carried her across the river and then safely transported her to Devbhog in a hired vehicle. The video of this incident has once again raised questions about the government’s development efforts.
