Ganja worth lakhs seized in Odisha border, smuggler arrested

Mahasamund. In Mahasamund, 145 kg of ganja, which was being carried hidden under straw in a mini truck passing Maharashtra, has been recovered. The value of the seized ganja is said to be Rs 72.5 lakh. Police have seized the truck and ganja and arrested the driver. The entire matter is of Singhoda police station area. Mahasamund Police said that on the information received from the informer, the vehicles coming from Odisha were being checked. During checking, Tata mini truck number MH – 40 CM 7102 coming from Odisha towards Chhattisgarh was stopped. Only the driver was in the truck.

Load sacks of straw into truck

During interrogation, the driver revealed his name as Dharmendra Ahirwar, father Ramesh Ahirwar (29). He is a resident of Naka Kamti Road No. 2, Nagpur, Maharashtra. When asked about the goods loaded in the truck, it was said that sacks of straw were loaded. When the police searched the truck, they found 145 kg of ganja in 6 plastic bags under the straw sacks. A mobile phone and Rs 1500 along with ganja have also been seized from the accused truck driver. Police said that the accused was taking ganja from Bargarh in Odisha to Nagpur in Maharashtra. The police have arrested the truck driver under the NDPS Act and sent him on judicial remand.
