Bilaspur. Garage operator in Bilaspur became victim of online fraud. Posing as officials of the insurance company, the thugs duped him and took his OTP number on the pretext of de-activating his plan. Then Rs 1.5 lakh crossed his account. The matter is of Sakri police station area.
Ashish Kumar Sahu, resident of Sahu Mohalla of Sakri, runs a car garage and washing centre. He has taken a credit card in his wife’s name. About 10 days ago, on the evening of 20th January, a call came on his mobile from an unknown number. The caller said that he introduced himself as an officer of the insurance company and said that his wife’s insurance plan is activated on her credit card. On this Ashish asked him to de-activate it. Then the alleged officer said to send the complaint to customer care. Then after some time a call came on his mobile from another number. The caller asked to de-activate two insurance plans. When Ashish said yes, he was asked for OTP. By asking for different OTPs twice, the swindler withdrew Rs 1 lakh 49 thousand 352 from his account.
Shortly after this, a message came on Ashish’s mobile regarding deduction of money from his bank account, then he came to know of the fraud. Knowing this, Ashish, the victim of fraud, was shocked. He immediately reached the police complaining about the matter. On which the policemen asked him to make a written complaint. On his complaint the police have registered a case of fraud.
