Fraud of Rs 17 lakh from a person, case registered against four people

Thane: Cyber police have registered a case against four people for duping a 45-year-old man from Navi Mumbai city in Maharashtra of over Rs 17 lakh.

The victim, a resident of Nerul area, was lured with the promise of high profits in exchange for investing in the stock market, an official said on Sunday.

Cyber police station official said that the accused allegedly made the victim invest Rs 17.30 lakh in a fake share trading scheme from December 5, 2023 to January 28, 2024. When the victim did not receive the promised profits and the amount invested, he lodged a police complaint.

According to him, the police have registered a case against four people under sections 419 (cheating by disguise), 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The matter is being investigated
