Surguja. A woman and her niece, who were sitting under a tree on the roadside and waiting for a bus, were hit by a speeding Echo vehicle in village Rikhi under Udaipur police station area of Surguja district on Monday afternoon. In the accident, the woman died on the spot and her niece was injured. The Echo vehicle collided with a tree. The driver of the vehicle also suffered injuries. According to the information, Sukhmania (34), resident of village Judwani Navapara, was sitting under a Peepal tree at Nunera Mor of village Rikhi along with her niece Usha (18) and another relative to go back to her village. They were waiting for the bus coming from Surajpur to Udaipur.
At around 12 noon, the driver of a high speed eco vehicle number CG 15 DA 5760, going from Rikhi towards Nunera, while driving the vehicle carelessly, hit Sukhmania and Usha who were waiting for the bus. After hitting both of them, the vehicle overturned after hitting a tree and then became upright. Sukhmania was seriously injured after being crushed in the accident. Ursha got injuries on her hand. On receiving information about the incident, the Dial 112 team took all three to the Community Health Center.
Doctors declared Sukhmania dead after investigation. Treatment of Usha and the driver is ongoing. The body of the woman has been handed over to the family after post-mortem. Family members told that the deceased Sukhmania had gone from village Judwani to village Namana and Nunera to attend a program at a relative’s house a few days ago. The deceased has three daughters who are studying in class 12th, 10th and class 6th. The husband of the deceased is an alcoholic who often stays in his home village leaving his wife and daughters. All three daughters were dependent on Sukhmania. The family members kept waiting for the dead body in Udaipur for more than an hour. When the dead body was not found, the family took the woman’s body in a tractor and left for their village Navapara Judwani.
