Four Malayali passengers attacked in Coimbatore, four including solider arrested

KOCHI: Four Malayali car passengers were attacked on the Salem-Kochi national highway. The youths of Pattimattom in Ernakulam were attacked on the Kochi-Salem highway near Coimbatore. The masked assailants came in three cars, smashed the car in which the youths were traveling, and then tried to steal. The attack was towards Aslam Siddique, Charles Reji and two others. The youths released the visuals of it.

They were attacked near L&T bypass under Madhukkarai Station limits in Coimbatore. The youths were returning from Bengaluru after buying computers for their company. They were attacked when they stopped the car in the red signal. They said that they fled driving the vehicle fast. They later lodged a complaint at the check post and Madhukkarai police station. The visuals of the attack were captured in the car’s dash camera.The Madhukkarai police station arrested Sivadas (29), Ramesh Babu (27) of Chittoor in Palakkad, Vishnu (28) of Kunnathupalayam and Ajay Kumar (24) of Mallappally. They were arrested from Palakkad the other day. The accused have been remanded. Other accused are absconding.Vishnu, one of the accused is a soldier in Madras Regiment. He came home for vacation on April 4. Meanwhile, he joined with them to commit the theft. Initial reports said the attack was mistaken for people coming with hawala money. Two cars bearing numbers KL-47-D-6036 and KL-42-S-3960 were seized.
