Baghdad: Iraqi security forces killed four Islamic State (IS) militants in an operation in the desert area of central Iraq. The Iraqi Army gave this information in a statement. According to Security Media Cell, a media outlet affiliated with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, paramilitary fighters from local tribal forces affiliated with Iraqi Hashd Shaabi forces pursued a pickup truck carrying four IS militants. He had an encounter with terrorists in the Tharthar desert. During this, the truck was destroyed and all the four terrorists in it were killed.
An operation has been launched by the Iraqi army, police and Hashd Shaabi forces to search for IS militants in the desert of Salahuddin, Nineveh and Anbar provinces, Xinhua news agency reported. Under the same, these terrorists were killed. The military statement said Iraqi forces have credible intelligence about the terrorists’ locations. He has resolved to eliminate the terrorists. The incident brings to ten the number of militants killed by the Iraqi Army in the Tharthar Desert during 24 hours, the army statement said. On Saturday also, Iraqi warplanes killed six IS terrorists hiding inside a tunnel in the Tharthar desert.
