Former Tamil Nadu DGP jailed for three years in sexual harassment case

Chennai (IANS) | A local court in Villupuram on Friday sentenced Rajesh Das, a former special DGP of Tamil Nadu, to three years imprisonment in a sexual assault case. The accused was accused of sexual harassment two years back by his junior lady IPS officer.

Along with this, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

The incident took place during the election campaign when the accused and victim officer, former chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was involved in planning the security arrangements.

In this regard, a complaint was lodged with the Home Secretary and the DGP in February 2021.
