Former DGP passes away, was the first chief of CG police
Raipur. Chhattisgarh’s first Director General of Police Shrimohan Shukla passed away this morning. Retired IPS Shrimohan Shukla (85 years) breathed his last in Bhopal. His last rites were performed in Bhopal at 12 noon today.
Shrimohan Shukla was made the first DGP of the state on November 1, 2000 after the formation of Chhattisgarh state. He headed the police department till May 26, 2001. After retirement, he lived in Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal.
It is known that Shrimohan Shukla shifted to Bhopal after retirement. Shrimohan Shukla was Chhattisgarh’s first DGP. The then Chief Minister Ajit Jogi got him to take VRS and made IPS Ramlakhan Singh the new DGP. In return, Shukla was given the responsibility of PSC Chairman. Shrimohan Shukla was the Chairman of Chhattisgarh PSC from 2001 to 2004. Shrimohan Shukla, who was the SP of many districts in Madhya Pradesh, was considered an honest IPS.
