Formation of new urban bodies in accordance with public aspirations and demands of local residents
Raipur. Raipur. Nine new urban bodies have been formed in Chhattisgarh between January and December last year. During this period, the state government has also upgraded seven Nagar Panchayats as Nagar Palika. The state government has sensitively considered the demands of the local residents and approved the formation of new urban bodies to meet the public aspirations. This will give further impetus to the work of providing urban facilities in the towns developing as emerging cities. Including the urban bodies formed last year in the state, there are now a total of 192 urban bodies. These include 14 Municipal Corporations, 54 Municipalities and 124 Nagar Panchayats.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, nine new Nagar Panchayats have been formed in the last calendar year 2024 to speed up the infrastructural development in accordance with the demand of the town population of the state and emerging cities. On the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Saw, immediate action has been taken to form new urban bodies and upgrade the Nagar Panchayats with higher population to Nagar Palikas to fulfill the local public aspirations and give them a concrete shape.
On the demand of public representatives and local people, Lal Bahadur Nagar and Ghumka of Rajnandgaon district, Jarhagaon of Mungeli, Patna of Korea, Kusmi of Bemetara, Devbhog of Gariaband, Shivanandanpur of Surajpur, Bamhnidih of Janjgir-Champa and Palari of Balod district have been made Nagar Panchayats between January and December in the year 2024. At the same time, keeping in view the public aspirations, Gaurela Nagar Panchayat and Pendra Nagar Panchayat of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district have been upgraded as Nagar Palika. Along with these, Lormi Nagar Panchayat of Mungeli district, Abhanpur Nagar Panchayat of Raipur, Bodri Nagar Panchayat of Bilaspur, Simga Nagar Panchayat of Balodabazar-Bhatapara and Ramanujganj of Balrampur-Ramanujganj have also been upgraded as Municipal Corporations.
