Ranchi: In the famous case of murder of Ranchi businessman Manoj Kumar Sahu by pelting stones and beating with sticks, the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Vishal Srivastava has sentenced five accused found guilty to life imprisonment with hard labour.
These include a woman Manki Devi, besides Mohan Oraon, Shanicharwa Oraon, Bablu Kachhap alias Danny and Ranjan Fogla. The court has also imposed a fine on all five. The incident took place in the month of April 2018. Manoj Kumar Sahu, a resident of Upper Bazaar, Ranchi, had gone to construct a boundary wall on the land purchased in Bukru Road of Kanke Block. During this, after a dispute with some people, he was beaten to death.
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s brother Santosh Kumar had lodged an FIR in Kanke police station on April 3, 2018. The police had filed a charge sheet on the basis of FSL report and evidence. During the hearing of the case, seven witnesses were presented by the prosecution. On the basis of evidence and witnesses, the court found five accused guilty on June 26. After the debate on the sentence on Friday, the court sentenced them.
