Business Business : The next-generation MG Astor has been announced ahead of its global launch. It is known as the MG ZS worldwide. Interestingly, the new generation Astor or ZS may come with hybrid technology. In a recently released spy video, a “Hybrid+” badge can be seen at the rear. At the heart of the updated MG Astor Hybrid+ is a self-charging hybrid system, like the system installed in the MG3, this system works according to the Atkinson cycle with a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The new hybrid system uses an NCM lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.83 kWh.
Apart from the new hybrid powertrain, the design of the MG Astor has also been changed majorly. The sporty look of this compact SUV is similar to some global models such as the MG3 and MG HS. The outstanding features of the exterior changes include a new front view with new LED headlights and radiator grille as well as bumpers and air intakes with a new design.
The MG Astor is expected to come with a dual-screen infotainment system and instrument cluster. Other expected features of the updated MG Astor include power front seats, 360-degree camera system, wireless charging and ADAS with new features.
The updated MG Astor or MG ZS will hit the European market in September 2023. It is expected to launch in India in 2025. Like the current model, the updated MG Astor will compete in the compact SUV segment with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltus and even the Citroen Basalt and Tata Curve.
