Firing on police team that arrived to raid in Punjab, one policeman killed

Chandigarh: In Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, a team of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrived to raid the house of a gangster. Meanwhile, the gangster opened fire on the police. Constable Amritpal Singh died due to bullet injury.

The CIA team of Punjab Police, based on secret information, raided the gangster’s residence in Mansoorpur village of Mukerian. The gangster had kept a large number of illegal weapons here.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba told the media on Sunday, “The CIA team had reached the village to raid the house of gangster Sukhwinder Singh. As soon as the team entered the house, the accused opened fire. The bullet hit constable Amritpal Singh in the chest.

The SSP said, “The accused managed to escape from the spot. Amritpal Singh was initially admitted to the Civil Hospital in Mukerian. When his condition became critical, he was referred to a private hospital, where he died.
