Punjab: Police have arrested a husband and wife with 272 grams of heroin. The accused Balwinder Singh and his wife Sarabjeet Kaur are residents of Rohera in Haryana’s Jind district. The couple was intercepted near Faridkot and the contraband was recovered from them, police said. A case under the NDPS Act was registered at Sadar Kotkapura police station and both the accused have been remanded to police custody.
Investigation revealed that the heroin was given to them by a smuggler from border district Ferozepur and was to be transported to Haryana via rail for further distribution. Police have also named suppliers and recipients in the case and said arrests will be made soon. Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Pragya Jain said the police is committed to breaking the supply chains linking border areas of Punjab with smugglers from Haryana.
