Ambikapur. Ambikapur police have arrested four members of a gang who cheated people in the name of Tantra Mantra. Police have recovered fake notes worth Rs 22 lakh, 80 fake gold biscuits, 11 pieces of mobile, printer and genuine Rs 2 lakh from the accused. The accused had also cheated a villager of Rs 8 lakh 51 thousand from Ambikapur 15 days ago. Additional Superintendent of Police Amolak Singh said that a resident of Jagsay Rajwade village Bardhodhi Sarnapara of Manipur police station area came to Manipur police station on May 2, 2024 and lodged a report that he had been talking to an unknown person claiming to be from Nagpur, Maharashtra on his mobile number for a few months ago. On April 29, the said person came to his house for the purpose of visiting him and met him and went to Ambikapur saying that he had work on herbal products. The next day on April 30, he again reached her house along with another person.
Jagsay Rajwade told the police that in the name of Prasad, she gave him something sweet, after eating which he became unconscious. After that the accused escaped from his house with some goods and cash amounting to Rs 8 lakh 51 thousand. In this case, the police team inspected the site of the incident and observed hundreds of CCTV footages of the surrounding and main road and the road related to the incident and obtained necessary technical information from the cyber cell. The accused had used Swift car during the incident. On the basis of the registration number of the said car, the police team reached Raipur, surrounded the driver of the vehicle used in the incident, arrested him and interrogated him. The accused revealed his name as Sheet Kumar Sonwani, age 31, resident of Bhimnagar, Raipur. When the accused was interrogated regarding the incident, he said that he along with other accused Sukhdev Sahu, Girdhari Sahu, Aansoo Jha alias Abhay had committed the incident. Police have arrested all four accused along with the car used in the crime.
