Fake CAF constable arrested, caught in a fraud case.

Jashpur: Jashpur police have arrested and sent to jail an accused who was fraudulently posing as a Chhattisgarh Armed Force jawan and cheating people by promising them jobs. The accused had duped two women, swindling them out of two lakh rupees. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of City Kotwali police station in Jashpur.
According to the police, the accused, Punni Lal Anant (27 years old), a resident of Tanda Darrikapa village, Kota police station, Bilaspur district, was living in a rented house in Jashpur and claiming to be a soldier of the armed forces. He would roam around the Collectorate premises wearing a police uniform, where he met two women. Citing his alleged connections, he promised them jobs in the Fisheries Department and other departments, and took two lakh rupees from one of the women.
Based on a complaint filed by Seema Bai (39 years old), a resident of Jhargaon, Sonkyari police outpost, a case was registered at City Kotwali police station, Jashpur, under sections 318(2) and 318(4) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). During the investigation, the accused absconded, but the police arrested him from Bilaspur based on informer information and technical evidence. During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. The police seized educational documents, caste certificates, and Aadhaar cards that the accused had taken from the victims under the pretext of securing them jobs. The police have formally arrested the accused and sent him to jail on judicial remand. ASP Jashpur Anil Kumar Soni stated that strict action will continue against those who commit fraud by wearing fake uniforms.
