Fake bank employee arrested, cheated villagers by luring them with loan

Raigarh. Chakradharnagar police has arrested 60-year-old Mohit Chauhan, who cheated villagers on the pretext of getting them loans, and sent him on judicial remand. The accused, Mohit Chauhan is a resident of Bhajandipa Mitthumuda Jute Mill. The accused had deceived Puniya Bhagat, a woman from village Loing, and two other villagers by posing as an employee of SBI Bank.

According to the complaint given to the police today, in July-August last year, Mohit Chauhan came to the victims’ village Loing and introduced himself as a bank employee and promised to easily get a loan of Rs 8 lakh. The accused got the villagers to sign the form and demanded Rs 80,000 from each, saying that 10% of the money will have to be deposited in the bank first in the name of loan processing. Puniya Bhagat and two other women fell into his trap and gave him Rs 80,000 each. Months passed waiting for the loan to be approved, but when the amount did not come to anyone’s account, the victims reached the bank. There it was found out that Mohit Chauhan is not an employee of the bank. After confirming the fraud, when an attempt was made to contact Mohit, he stopped talking and absconded.

On the basis of the complaint, Chakradharnagar police registered a case against the accused under Crime No. 51/2025 Section 318(4), 319(2) BNS and immediately arrested the accused. Assistant Sub Inspector Nand Kumar Sarathi is investigating the case under the direction of Police Station Incharge Inspector Prashant Rao. Further action is underway against the accused.
