Excise department raided bus stands, hotels and dhabas, information was received about serving of liquor

Durg. Under the instructions of Excise Commissioner R Sangeeta and the guidance of Collector Richa Prakash Chaudhary and the guidance of Assistant Excise Commissioner Rajesh Jaiswal, the Excise Department Durg is continuously taking action to control and prevent the sale of illegal liquor in the district in view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a joint team of Bhilai and Durg control room of the Excise Department, Durg, conducted a search campaign of hotels/dhabas. During the search, a case has been registered under Section 36 (C) of the Excise Act after Raju Dhaba, operating in Kumhari on the National Highway, was found consuming liquor illegally. Also Royal Khalsa Dhaba, Brothers Dhaba, Kanha Dhaba, Sandhu Dhaba, Apna Dhaba, Punjab Dhaba, Navneet Dhaba, Payal Restaurant near Railway Station Durg, Avon Dhaba and Restaurant, Prince Dhaba on Rajnandgaon Highway, Dhaba CG 07, Shri Sai. By conducting a search operation in the dhaba, the dhaba/hotel operators were directed not to deal in illegal liquor and to immediately report any kind of suspicious activity on the control room number 0788-2325836.

A telephone complaint number has been made available for the participation of common citizens to control the sale, possession and transportation of illegal liquor in the district, under which the official telephone number of the Excise Department, Durg, can be contacted 24×7 hours on 0788-2325836. -A complaint can be lodged against those accused of selling, transporting and possessing illegal liquor in nearby areas.

This joint action was conducted by the district’s Assistant District Excise Officer Dheeraj Kannaujiya, Supriya Tiwari, Pankaj Kujur and Excise Sub Inspector Arvind Sahu, Gitanjali Taram and Excise Chief Constable/Conservator and team of vehicle drivers.
