The three-day process to commission electronic voting machines (EVMs) and VVPATs to be used in the upcoming simultaneous elections began on Saturday at the auditorium hall of the Government Higher Secondary School in Lower Siang district.
This is being done as per the prescribed norms and as per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, in the presence of the District Electoral Officer (DEO), Returning Officers, election agents of the candidates and the General Observer (GO). Supreet Singh Gulati.
The commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs for Likabali assembly constituency was completed on Saturday, and the commissioning work for Nari-Koyu assembly constituency will be started on April 7.
The process of commissioning will conclude on April 8 with the commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs of the assembly constituencies of both Arunachal West and Arunachal East parliamentary constituencies. Meanwhile, the DEO/RO reviewed the law and order situation in a meeting with the sector and administrative officials. Took stock, and also discussed “movement and recovery plans” of polling teams to conduct the elections.
The GO presented a brief on “Practical approach to be adopted by Sector Officers on the day of polling to prevent any possible procedural lapse on the day of polling”.
He advised officials to “study the election manual, so that you can have proper knowledge to give timely guidance to the polling personnel at the polling stations on the day of polling.”
