Every home became prosperous with water

Raipur. After many years, Pachrahi village is once again in the headlines. Years ago, this village came into the limelight in the whole country due to the 16th century coins and tools found in archaeological excavations here. Pachrahi is in the news this time too for a good reason. The faces of the residents of Pachrahi, especially the women, are glowing with happiness. In this remote village dominated by the special backward tribe Baiga tribals, drinking water is now reaching every house through taps. Women who used to struggle daily to collect water for drinking water and other needs of the family are now at peace. The tap reaching the courtyard of the house is providing enough water for the needs of the entire family. This has brought a big change in the lives of the women of the village. Clean and safe drinking water in every house has also freed the villagers from the health hazards caused by dirty water.

Jal Jeevan Mission has written a new chapter of happiness in Pachrahi of Bodla development block, 35 km away from Kabirdham district headquarters Kawardha. The Public Health Engineering Department has made a water supply system here at a cost of Rs 68 lakh, due to which 72 families of the village are getting drinking water at their homes. Now the women here do not have to struggle for water from early morning. Earlier, women had to work hard to fetch water from far-off water sources every day. But now the availability of clean water at home has made their life simple and comfortable. Getting water at home is saving the time and labor spent daily for it. This is giving them more time for their livelihood, upbringing of children and other household chores.

All the people of Pachrahi are getting clean and safe drinking water from Jal Jeevan Mission. Before the Nal Jal Yojana, the people here were dependent on hand pumps and rivers and drains for drinking water. The problem of drinking water here used to persist due to the excess of iron element in the groundwater. But now the Nal Jal Yojana has resolved all the problems related to drinking water. Now clean and safe drinking water is reaching every house. Drinking water scheme is being operated through solar pumps in Pachrahi, a dependent village of Gram Panchayat Boda-3, with a population of about 300, located in the middle of the forests.

All houses in 85 villages of Kabirdham are getting tap water

Under Jal Jeevan Mission, all houses in 85 villages of Kabirdham district are getting tap water supply. Under the mission, tap water will be supplied to every house in a total of 958 villages of the district. Out of these, work has been almost completed in 205 villages. Work is also going on at a fast pace in the remaining villages, which have been targeted to be completed by March 2025. Water supply works through solar pumps are being completed on priority to small and sparse settlements in forest areas and remote areas.

Multi-village schemes for villages with problems in groundwater sources

The work of providing river water through multi-village scheme in two areas of Kabirdham district with problems in groundwater sources is also in progress. The Rengakhar Multi-Village Scheme will supply drinking water to 15 villages where there is excess iron in the groundwater. For this, the water of the Baherakhar reservoir will be purified through a water treatment plant and then sent to tanks built in the villages for supply. The water of the Sarodha reservoir will be supplied for drinking water to 16 villages affected by the falling groundwater level through the Dhakti Bamni Multi-Village Scheme.
