Business Business: The surplus in goods trade between the European Union and the US increased in April, while exports to China declined for the ninth consecutive month. According to official EU data, the trade surplus with the US increased in April 2025, although the EU’s overall trade surplus fell to 7.4 billion euros from 12.7 billion euros in April 2024.
Both exports and imports from the US saw an increase for the fourth consecutive month in April, but the rate of growth was lower than before. The US has imposed several new tariffs on European products since March. Despite these measures, exports from the EU to the US recorded a sharp increase of about 59.5% in March, indicating that US importers accumulated stocks ahead of the tariff increase.
