Essential guidelines issued for serving mid-day meals in schools

Balodabazar. Under the PM Poshan Nirman Yojana, necessary guidelines have been issued by Collector Deepak Soni for systematic operation of all the mid-day meal running schools in the district. Instructions have been given to strictly follow the instructions and take action in case of negligence.

As per the issued instructions, the utensils, food items and kitchen cum store room, kitchen shed used for mid-day meal will have to be cleaned regularly and bleaching powder will have to be sprayed around the kitchen shed twice a week. Fencing the kitchen shed with mesh wires so that stray dogs, cattle, spiders and lizards cannot go near the kitchen shed. Special attention will have to be paid to the cleanliness and quality of grains, pulses and seasonal vegetables before preparing the mid-day meal given to the children. Before distributing the mid-day meal, the headmaster,

teacher will ensure that the children wash their hands with soap. The headmaster or the teacher in charge of mid-day meal will continuously observe the mid-day meal being prepared in the school every day. Propose action against the self-help groups that do not provide quality food and inform the Block Education Officer’s office. Instructions have also been given for the participation of parents in monitoring the mid-day meal.
