EPFO rules 2025: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) introduced several reforms in 2025 to simplify and digitise the process. Here are the five most important changes made by EPFO this year.
Digitisation of joint declaration process
EPFO has digitised the joint declaration process from 16 January 2025. By linking the Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar, EPF members can complete the joint declaration online. However, if the UAN is not linked to Aadhaar, physical submission of the joint declaration becomes a must.
Joint declaration is mandatory for employees to request changes in their profile details, which are verified by the employer. Hence, digitising the joint declaration helps in updating profile details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name and other details online without any additional documents.
Provident fund transfer on job change
European Parliament backs amendment to EU carbon cap
Earlier, provident fund transfer on job change required employer approval. After 15 January 2025, approval of either the old or new employer is not required to transfer provident fund.
Centralised Pension Payment System
EPFO has implemented the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS) from 1 January 2025. This system allows pensioners to receive their pension from any bank across the country, streamlining the process by removing physical verification and reducing the need for Pension Payment Order (PPO) transfers.
