Tamil Nadu: It is reported that the Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU train will be cancelled due to engineering maintenance work in the North Coimbatore Railway Station area.
In this regard, the Salem Railway Divisional Administration has issued a press release:
Due to engineering maintenance work, the Pothanur – Mettupalayam MEMU train (No: 66616) scheduled to depart Pothanur at 3:30 pm on February 27 will depart Mettupalayam at 4:45 pm on the same day. The Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU train (No: 66617) is cancelled.
Similarly, the Pothanur – Mettupalayam MEMU train (No. 66612) departing from Pothanur at 9:40 a.m. on March 1st and the Mettupalayam – Pothanur MEMU train (No. 66615) departing from Mettupalayam at 1:05 p.m. on the same day have been cancelled.
Trains in Kerala running on alternate routes:
Due to engineering maintenance work, the Trichy – Palakkad Express (No. 16843) departing from Trichy at 1 p.m. on February 27th will not run on the regular route but will instead run via Erukuru – Pothanur. Consequently, the train will avoid stopping at Singanallur, Peelamedu, Vadakovai, and Coimbatore railway stations.
The Alappuzha-Dhanbad Express (No. 13352) and the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Intercity train (No. 16378) scheduled to depart on March 1 will not operate on the regular route, but will instead run via Podanur and Erukkur. This will avoid the Coimbatore railway station. The Salem Railway Divisional Administration stated that Podanur will serve as an additional stop.
