Ranchi (IANS) | The terror of elephants did not stop in Jharkhand. Elephants crushed three people together in Gumla district on Wednesday. Two of them died, while the condition of one remains critical.
The incident is of Kuli village under Kamdara police station area. It was told that some people of the village had gone to pick mangoes in the garden at five o’clock in the morning. Meanwhile, a herd of elephants reached there. Three elephants came under the grip of the running people. Those killed include Motro Singh and Juhi Devi. Another person Bodhana Swansi is badly injured, who has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. A few hours after the incident, the people of the village and the Forest Department team reached the spot. The dead bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Six people have been trampled to death by elephants in Gumla district this year so far, while at least 10 have been injured in their attacks. Talking about the whole of Jharkhand, 39 people have been killed in elephant attacks so far this year alone. There is terror of elephants in 18 out of 24 districts of the state. According to an estimate, this year only elephants have trampled the crops planted in more than two thousand acres of area. The number of houses and government buildings destroyed in elephant attacks is more than 200.
