Jashpur. A 60-year-old man died due to an elephant attack in Kunkuri’s Kotiya forest. Elderly Ratu Ram Yadav had gone to the forest to collect a piece of branch. Then suddenly he came face to face with the elephant. The elephant attacked and killed the old man. On the information of the incident, the forest staff reached the spot and started taking further action. Wild elephants damaged two houses on Wednesday night in Gotia village of Kunkuri district. Then on Thursday morning an elephant has also taken the life of an elderly person. The incident is being told around 11 am. The family of the deceased has been given an assistance of 50 thousand from the government.
Kunkuri MLA UD Minj said, “The incident is very sad. The elephant was reported to be in the forest. But the elders could not hear the information due to hearing loss. By mistake, they went towards the forest to collect some leaves and dung beetles. During this he came face to face with the elephant and the elephant crushed him and killed him.The forest department is doing all the formalities.
