Election bribery case: Case against former minister’s son dismissed.

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai High Court has ordered the quashing of a case registered against two people, including the son of former AIADMK minister P. Valarmathi, in connection with the distribution of cash during the elections.

In the 2021 assembly elections, former AIADMK minister P. Valarmathi contested from the Alandur constituency. Election Flying Squad Officer Muthu Sundaram received information that money was being distributed to voters in that constituency.

Following this, the Flying Squad intercepted and searched a luxury car passing through the area. Rs. 15,000 was seized from Valarmathi’s son, Moovendhan, and Karthikeyan, who were in the car.

Based on the complaint of the Election Officer, the Parangimalai police registered a case against Moovendhan and Karthikeyan. A charge sheet was also filed in this case.

Meanwhile, Moovendhan and Karthikeyan filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking to quash the case. The matter came up for hearing before Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandira. At that time, advocate S. Tamilselvan, appearing for the petitioners, argued that the case was registered due to political animosity. The police denied this.

The judge hearing the case subsequently ordered the quashing of the case against the petitioners, Moovendhan and Karthikeyan.
