Eight-year-old boy killed in Hyderabad, family suspects human sacrifice

Hyderabad (IANS) | An eight-year-old child was brutally murdered in Hyderabad. The family of the deceased has suspected it to be a case of human sacrifice. But the police said that they have no proof of this. Abdul Wahid’s body was found in a drain in Moosapet in the early hours of Friday.

The boy had gone missing from his house in Alauddin Koti area of Sanat Nagar on Thursday. After this the family lodged a complaint with the police.

Police have arrested Imran, a transgender and four others on charges of murder. The victim’s family ransacked his house and claimed to have found signs of human sacrifice.

However, the police say there was a financial dispute between Imran and the boy’s father Wasim Khan. Due to this the boy was killed.

Based on the CCTV footage installed in the area, the police arrested Imran. Imran has confessed to killing the boy and throwing the body in the drain.

According to the victim’s family, Imran had ordered a packet of ORS from the boy. When the boy went to Imran’s house to deliver the packet, he caught him.

The accused strangled her to death by forcibly immersing her head in a bucket full of water. After the child was confirmed dead, Imran, with the help of an auto rickshaw driver, dumped the body in a water bucket and a bag and dumped it in a drain.

There is an atmosphere of tension in the area due to the murder. Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivasa Rao said a dispute over financial matters led to the murder of the boy. However, he added that if the victim’s family suspects that it was a case of human sacrifice, they will probe the matter from that angle as well.

Animal Husbandry Minister T. Srinivas Yadav also visited the fields. He clarified that it was not a case of human sacrifice, but assured the victim’s family that the guilty would not be spared.

He said that fast track courts would be set up to ensure speedy trial and punishment.
