Eid prayers concluded peacefully in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar (IANS) | Eid prayers were peaceful across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, except at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar’s old city. The authorities did not allow Eid prayers to be offered at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar due to security reasons.

Eid prayers were offered peacefully in Jammu and Kashmir as thousands of devout Muslims gathered at various Eidgahs and mosques to offer morning prayers.

The biggest gathering in Srinagar took place at the Hazratbal Mosque where hundreds of devotees offered Eid prayers.

A large number of people also offered Eid prayers at the Pir Dastgir Dargah/Masjid in Khanyar area of Srinagar.

Reports from other district headquarters of the Valley and Jammu division also indicate that Eid prayers were conducted peacefully there too.

After Eid prayers, Muslims congratulate each other on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, during which fasting is observed from dawn to dusk.

The authorities had made adequate security arrangements around Eidgahs and mosques to ensure that people could offer prayers without any disturbance.
