ED tightens grip on builder, property worth Rs 7 crores including several flats attached

Mumbai The Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai, Maharashtra on Thursday attached assets worth Rs 7.04 crore of builder and director of Ornate Spaces Private Limited, Vijay Machinder, in a money laundering case. All these properties are in immovable form, which also includes many flats in Mumbai. Vijay Machinder was arrested by the ED on January 3 on charges of defrauding several buyers and investors of more than Rs 50 crore in a project started by his company in Oshiwara area. At present he is in judicial custody.
ED initiated investigation against Vijay Machinder on the basis of FIR lodged by Oshiwara police station, which claimed that Vijay had misused the money collected between 2012 and 2019 for booking flats in Oshiwara project. . It has been said in the FIR that he had wrongfully defrauded the buyers to the tune of Rs 74 crore. Investigation revealed that Ornate Spaces had entered into an agreement in 2010 for the development of a plot, which was originally allotted by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Developing Authority to the employees of United Trust of India.
