Raipur. The heat of Maharashtra’s alleged ‘bitcoin scam’ case has reached Chhattisgarh. The Mumbai ED team has conducted raids in the capital Raipur. Officials have simultaneously raided several locations of crypto businessman Gaurav Mehta in Raipur and Pune. It is being told that around 12 noon on Sunday, a team of 7 to 8 ED officials reached house number A-47 in Amrapali Society, Raipur. Gaurav Mehta was present here with his family. The round of questioning continued till late night.
It is being told that Gaurav Mehta works for a consultancy, which was helping the Pune Police in the investigation of Amit Bhardwaj’s 6600 crore cryptocurrency scam. Former IPS Ravindranath Patil had recently claimed that Gaurav Mehta was contacted by Congress party leaders Supriya Sule and Nana Patole and the money for use in the elections was delivered through Gaurav from the bitcoin scam. It is also being told that ED officials have found some documents and computer hard disks including laptops in Gaurav’s house, which is being investigated by ED’s technical team. Along with this, some important documents related to the bank have also been found, for which employees of local banks are being called and investigated.
The special thing in this raid was that a 5-member CBI team was also waiting in the car outside Gaurav’s house for more than 10 hours. It is being told about Gaurav Mehta that he is an expert in artificial intelligence and cyber field. He has always been officially included in the cyber crime cell team in the raids of enforcement agencies in Chhattisgarh. It is said to have a significant role behind the scenes in the elections held in many states. Also, former IPS Ravindranath Patil went to jail in the year 2018 only after Gaurav’s testimony. At the time of writing the news, the raid operation of the ED team is going on in the house of businessman Gaurav Mehta in Raipur. Along with this, Gaurav Mehta and his brother Akshay Mehta are being questioned.
