Earthquake of 4.7 magnitude hits Noto region of Japan

Tokyo: An earthquake of 4.7 magnitude struck the Noto region of Japan’s Ishikawa province, the weather agency said on Sunday.

The earthquake occurred at around 12:36 pm. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said its center was at 37.4 degrees north latitude and 137.2 degrees east longitude and the depth was 10 km. Due to the earthquake, tremors were felt in Wajima city for about five seconds, measuring intensity 4. According to Xinhua news agency report, no tsunami warning has been issued.
