Earthquake in three districts of Maharashtra, ground shook in Nanded-Hingoli-Parbhani

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Continuous earthquake tremors in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra in the early hours of Thursday left people in panic. According to officials, the earth shook several times between 1:37 am and 3:23 am in Nanded, Hingoli and Parbhani districts. The intensity of these tremors was recorded between 3.6 to 4.6 on the Richter scale. Due to these tremors that occurred in the silence of the night, a large number of people came out of their homes. Although according to initial information, there is no information about any major loss of life or property, but the administration is continuously monitoring the situation.
Continuous tremors felt after midnight
Earthquake tremors were felt at different times from late night till early morning. The first tremor was recorded around 1:37 am, followed by several aftershocks of mild and moderate intensity, officials said. The last major aftershock was recorded at about 3:23 p.m. Due to continuous tremors an atmosphere of fear was created among the people.
According to local residents, utensils and furniture kept in houses started shaking at many places. In some areas, people got scared and came out on open fields and roads. Many families considered it appropriate to stay outside their homes for some time as a precaution.
Impact felt in three districts
The impact of the earthquake was felt mainly in Nanded, Hingoli and Parbhani districts of Marathwada. Tremors were confirmed to be felt from different places in these three districts. The administration said that information is being collected from various tehsils so that any possible loss can be assessed.
Administrative officials have instructed the local police, revenue department and disaster management teams to remain alert. Information is also being continuously collected from rural areas.
Intensity was between 3.6 to 4.6
According to officials, the intensity of the recorded earthquakes ranged between 3.6 to 4.6 on the Richter scale. Earthquakes of this level are generally considered to be of medium category. These may cause vibrations to be felt in buildings, but sturdily constructed buildings usually do not suffer serious damage. However, it may affect old or weak structures.
Experts say that if continuous tremors are felt in any area, people should remain alert and follow the advice of the local administration.
No major damage reported
According to preliminary reports, no deaths or serious injuries have been reported due to the earthquake. Similarly, there has been no confirmation of damage to buildings on a large scale.
The administration said that all concerned departments have been put on alert and if any damage is reported from anywhere, immediate relief and assistance will be provided.

The district administration has advised citizens to remain calm and contact the local administration, police or disaster management department in case of any emergency. Officials said that the situation is completely under control and is being continuously monitored.
Experts have also advised that if an earthquake is felt in future, instead of panicking, go to a safe place, do not use the lift and try to reach an open area.
