Durga Madhav Satpathy has been appointed as DAMET in Odisha.

Odisha: The State Government has appointed senior health professional Durga Madhav Satapathy as the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) in Odisha. Satapathy previously served as the Superintendent of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

The incumbent DMET, Santosh Mishra, has been appointed as the Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in the capital city.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) serves as the governing body for medical education within the state.

All government medical colleges, dental colleges, and nursing institutions in the state fall under the administrative jurisdiction of the DMET.

This Directorate oversees the admission process for medical colleges and nursing institutions. It is also responsible for improving healthcare infrastructure within the state, as well as for the skill upgradation of doctors and paramedical personnel.

It is pertinent to mention here that the State Government is planning to introduce an MBBS course at PGIMER—a premier healthcare institution in Odisha.
