Dombivli: A person arrested with a stock of ganja in Koper

Maharashtra: The Special Narcotics Control Squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old man for selling ganja in Siddharthnagar under Kopar railway station limits of Dombivli West. The squad seized 3,270 grams of ganja worth Rs 81,000 from him. The arrested person has been identified as Liladhar Suresh Thakar (resident of Siddharthnagar slum, Kopar Cross Road, near Hanuman Temple, Kopar, Dombivli). The Special Narcotics Control Squad under the control of Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende received information that a person was sitting in Siddharthnagar area of ​​Kopar limits of Dombivli West to sell drugs. The team laid a trap near Hanuman Temple in Siddharthnagar area and arrested Liladhar Thakar. A case was registered against him under the Narcotics Control Act. There is a buzz among the locals that some people have been smuggling MD powder and ganja on a small scale in the areas of Old Dombivli, Kopar, Kumbharkhanpada, Devichapada for many years.

It is said that this smuggling is done more from Thane to Karjat belt. Some brothers with criminal background were running a gambling den at Satyavan Chowk in Devichapada, Dombivli West. Since these brothers had created terror in the local area, no local citizen complained about it or spoke openly. Gamblers parked their vehicles on the roads near these gambling dens. This was obstructing the traffic. Some of these brothers had come from abroad. Therefore, these brothers claimed that they do not fear anyone. Loksatta published the news in response to complaints about the gambling den at Satyavan Chowk and the ganja den at Devichapada Jetty. Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende took it seriously. The brothers disappeared from the gambling den before the local Vishnunagar police and the Special Anti-Narcotics Squad could take action. Special police patrolling has been increased in areas like Devichapada Jetty, Kalavati Aai Mandir area, Gopinath Chowk, Kumbharkhanpada, Ganeshnagar Ganeshghat, Navapada, Railway Ground etc. falling under the limits of Vishnunagar police station in Dombivli, which has created a dilemma for drug addicts. There is a pile of garbage in front of Dhwani Building near Gopinath Chowk in Maharashtranagar. Citizens complain that some ganja smugglers sit at night in the premises of a dilapidated building in this area by putting up curtains. Residents say that they make noise in the area throughout the night.
