Doctors protest in Gurugram against Rajasthan Health Bill

Gurugram (IANS) | Doctors of the Gurgaon branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) staged a protest on Tuesday against the Right to Health Bill passed by the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly last week. IMA Gurugram is supporting the doctors of Rajasthan opposing the bill. All private health services remained closed in Haryana on Sunday due to protests.

More than 500 doctors protested against the decision of the Rajasthan government.

Doctors in Gurugram joined the 24-hour strike called on Tuesday. Hundreds of doctors took to the streets in Cyber City Gurugram against the Rajasthan government’s Right to Health Bill.

A doctor participating in the protest said, “The Right to Health Bill provides that in case of emergency, the patient will have to be treated without any charge.” This will not only harm the doctors but will also increase the fights in the hospital. The Rajasthan government has not clarified how much and how it will pay for the treatment of a patient admitted for emergency. Similarly, there are many such provisions in the bill which are not in the interest of doctors.

The protesting doctors have made it clear that their protest will continue till the bill is withdrawn.
