Dismissal of cases seeking re-conduct of NEET: Madras HC order

Tamil Nadu : The Chennai High Court has dismissed cases filed by 16 students seeking re-conduct of the NEET exam.

The NEET exam for undergraduate medical courses was held across the country on May 4. There was a power outage in Chennai due to heavy rains on that day. As a result, 13 students who took the exam at the Avadi Kendriya Vidyalaya school centre, 2 students who took the exam at Kundrathur Government Higher Secondary School and a student from K.K. Nagar Padma Seshadri filed cases in the Madras High Court, alleging that they were not able to write the exam properly.

In those petitions, they sought cancellation of the NEET exam held on May 4 and an order to conduct the exam again. The Supreme Court, which had already heard the case, had ordered an interim stay on the publication of the NEET exam results.

In this situation, when the case came up for hearing again, an investigation into the power cut revealed that there was no impact on the NEET exam. Further, the National Examination Agency informed that since students have answered most of the questions, the re-examination cannot be conducted.
