Disgusting KCR is lying on power supply: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who also holds the power portfolio, on Tuesday criticized BRS over claims of power cuts in the state. The demand for electricity in Telangana has never been greater, which has increased manifold and is being met by continuous supply, Bhatti said at a press conference.

Bhatti said that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was doing a despicable act by spreading false propaganda on the power supply situation. “If there are power supply problems, how will the demand increase to such record levels and how will the supply be met?” People do not have confidence in believing the BRS propaganda, he asked. If BRS does not stop this then people will again teach it another lesson as they did in the last assembly elections.

“Have BRS leaders forgotten that under KCR’s rule, farmers came to the streets and staged protests. Has KCR forgotten the then Transco and Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao, who complained in a media conference about the raw deal struck by the BRS government with the power department? He asked.
He said that due to rising temperatures the state has seen a significant increase in the demand for electricity. Bhatti said the Congress government has met a power demand of 10,799 MW in the first week of this month, while the previous BRS government had supplied 7,062 MW during the same period last year.

The GHMC area witnessed a growth of 47.6 per cent in demand and consumption between May 1 and 6 this year as compared to the same period last year. While the demand in May 2023 was 2830 MW, now it has increased to 4,177 MW.
“During the last two days, power demand in GHMC reached record levels. At 12.19 am on Monday, the demand reached 4,059 MW, which is 300 per cent more than the same day last year,” he said.
