Erode: Differences have once again emerged among farmers regarding the modernization of the canal of Lower Bhavani Project. Work on the project, which has been suspended due to various reasons including rain, will resume in May next year.

While Bhavani Ayakattu, members of the lower level owners’ association, presented a petition to the district collector, asking that the government continue the modernization project as planned. The Movement for the Conservation of Lower Bhavani River announced that it would hold a demonstration against the project on 14 December.

At a meeting, members of the Rivers Conservation Movement of Bajo Bhawani decided to organize a demonstration demanding the government to abandon the modernization project.
