Raipur. A heart-wrenching murder case has come to light in the capital. A handicapped person was murdered in a rented house in Indraprastha Colony of Thana D.D. Nagar area and his body was stuffed in a trolley bag and thrown in a tin box after pouring cement. The deceased has been identified as Kishore Paikra (58 years), resident of Handipara, HMT Chowk Raipur. In the case, the police have arrested four accused including lawyer Ankit Upadhyay and his wife Shivani Sharma. The reason for the murder is said to be a dispute over money and fraud for personal interests.
The accused Ankit Upadhyay is a lawyer by profession, and the deceased Kishore Paikra was his client. A land deal of Kishore Paikra was done for Rs 30 lakh, in which lawyer Ankit got a commission of Rs 2 lakh. Apart from this, the deceased had given Rs 10 lakh to the lawyer for the settlement of his disputed properties and other matters. The accused spent this amount for personal use. When the deceased Kishore started demanding the return of the money continuously, the accused got upset and conspired to kill him with his wife Shivani Sharma.
On the morning of 21 June 2025, accused Ankit Upadhyay took the deceased to his rented room (Indraprastha Colony, D Block) on some pretext. His wife Shivani Sharma was also present there. The accused first fed the teenager poha and chana, then strangulated him to death. The body was put in a trolley bag, cement was sprinkled on it and it was closed in a tin box and dumped in Raipura area on the morning of 23 June.
After the murder, both the accused absconded and fled to Delhi. The Anti Crime and Cyber Unit of Raipur Police arrested both of them at Delhi Airport. Police also arrested two other accused Vinay Yadu and Suryakant Yadu who helped the accused couple. A case was registered against them under Sections 103(1), 238A, 61(2), 3(5) BNS at Police Station D.D. Nagar. The police have recovered other evidence including the Alto car used in the incident, two two-wheelers, five mobile phones, trolley bag, tin box, knife and blood-stained towel from the accused.
In view of the seriousness of the incident, five separate teams were formed under the guidance of Raipur Range IG Amresh Mishra, SSP Dr. Lal Ummed Singh, ASP Crime Sandeep Mittal, and other officers. Forensic experts and fingerprint experts inspected the crime scene and collected important evidence.
