Dimple Kapadia’s look in this film was much talked about at that time. Her polka dotted blouse in the film is still considered one of the most iconic outfits of Hindi cinema. In a recent interview, Dimple Kapadia has told how Raj Kapoor created her look for the film ‘Bobby’.
In an interview to ‘Vogue India’, Dimple Kapadia said, ‘Bobby was an iconic film. Raj Kapoor was a very special director. He created my entire look. My forehead was very small, so Raj Kapoor decided to change my hairstyle. He changed my hairline, changed my hairline, this made me very sad. ” She further said, “Raj Kapoor used to get all my clothes from abroad. He loved Archies comics very much. The iconic looks in ‘Bobby’ were based on characters from Archies Comics.
Dimple Kapadia often shares memories of her first film. Speaking to FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter, Dimple Kapadia said, “I was diagnosed with leprosy at the age of 12, then it got cured. However, at that time, one of my friends told me that now you will be expelled from school. I was only 12 years old at that time.” She added, “My father Chunibhai Kapadia knew many people in the film industry. A famous director of that time was his friend. He heard me swearing at something. I had leprosy and I had a mark on my elbow. He told me that I know you will be boycotted. At that time I heard the word boycott for the first time, what is boycott? I did not even know that. Also, Raj Kapoor came when he was suffering from leprosy. Dimple Kapadia also recalled that he had asked for the film Bobby.
