Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to take prompt action against a liquor mafia from Rasol who allegedly attacked a woman voter for protesting against forcing her to vote for BJD. did. Pradhan posted a video clip of the woman narrating her ordeal on his ‘X’ handle, saying it was another proof of BJD’s respect for women safety and women. Describing the incident as unfortunate, Pradhan said that exercising franchise is a fundamental right of every person and forcing someone to vote in favor of a particular party or person is a criminal act. It is unfortunate that the victim is pleading for justice and even after filing a complaint at Rasol police station, no action has been taken against the culprit.
The Union Minister said that violence during elections is an old habit of BJD. Since BJD is losing ground for the first time, it has resorted to violence to win this election. The people of the state will foil the plans of the group close to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik which is trying to run the government by holding the CM hostage.
