Raipur. The DGP-IG conference began at the Indian Institute of Management in Nava Raipur on Friday afternoon. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived here late last night to attend the conference and left directly for Nava Raipur. Before the conference, Shah also had a meeting with Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma this morning. The three-day conference began today in the IIM hall. NSA Ajit Doval and RAW chief Parag Jain arrived here this morning to attend the conference. It was reported that DGPs of all states and heads of central security agencies had arrived here on Thursday itself. After breakfast this morning, they gathered in the conference hall at around 11 am.
Among them were IB Chief Tapan Deka, heads of ITBP and CRPF, and CBI. Before the formal inauguration of the conference, NSA Ajit Doval and IB chief Deka met with state DGPs and other officers. Chhattisgarh DGP Arun Dev Gautam, Surguja IG Deepak Jha, and Bijapur Battalion Commandant Mayank Gurjar are also attending. Union Home Minister Mr. Shah will arrive at the conference venue this afternoon. DGPs from all states will give presentations on security. Before leaving for the conference, Mr. Shah held consultations with Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, discussing various issues related to Naxal operations. Shah is staying at the Nava Raipur residence allotted to Finance Minister OP Choudhary. Choudhary has not moved into the new bungalow.
ITBP Chief Praveen Kumar also visited Madanwada, a Naxal-affected area in Rajnandgaon. The ITBP and CRPF chiefs will give presentations on Naxal operations so far. The country’s three best police station in-charges and 10 best police stations will also be announced today. Home Minister Amit Shah will present awards. PM Narendra Modi will arrive here at 7:30 pm today and will proceed directly to Naya Raipur. He will spend the night at the Speaker’s House. He will attend a conference on Saturday morning. The conference aims to review progress made in addressing key challenges facing the police and to chart a future course for a “Safe India,” in line with the national vision of a “Developed India.”
